SEPTEMBER IS BASIC EDUCATION AND LITERACY MONTH

Basic education and literacy are one of The Rotary Foundation’s seven areas of focus. We know that basic education and literacy are essential for reducing poverty, improving health, encouraging community and economic development, and promoting peace.

Rotary supports activities and training to improve education for all children and literacy for children and adults. The Rotary Foundation enables Rotarians to ensure that all people have sustainable access to basic education and literacy by: 1. Involving the community to support programs that strengthen the capacity of communities to provide basic education and literacy to all; 2. Increasing adult literacy in communities; 3. Working to reduce gender disparity in education; 4. Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to basic education and literacy.

In Expo2020 the Rotary Expo pavilion collaborated with EBBC to support literacy. Entrepreneurial Business Book Club is a global community where it brings together a curious, ambitious, and growth-minded crowd every month to actively engage around a selected book or an interesting topic.

The event took a place on the 20th of February. The Rotary Majlis of Friendship hosted EBBC and its members for a collaboration event! EBBC Founder in Dubai, Andy Leung, provided an insightful and fruitful presentation on the book: Nonviolent Communication (NVC). The discussion highlighted the 4 main building blocks of NVC and how they pose a major impact on whether a communication is perceived as violent or nonviolent.

The event was a great success and sparked very interesting and thoughtful ideas among the attendees.
